Canadian Ryan Ellis notched six goals as the Invicta Dynamos recorded an emphatic 13-5 win over the Streatham Redskins on Sunday evening.

Justin Noble (3), Callum Best (2), Andy Smith and Callum Fowler were also on target for the Dynamos against the South London outfit in Gillingham.

In the opening period the Dynamos were off of the mark in just 22 seconds as Ryan Ellis poked Nicky Lewis’ centring pass beyond the netminder and it was 2-0 just over a minute later when Justin Noble’s wrist effort from the left wing found the five-hole. A powerplay strike from Steve Balmer then halved the deficit for Streatham but the hosts replied with a goal of their own whilst on the man advantage when Ryan Ellis slotted in at the second attempt from close range following a long diagonal from Tim Smith.

The Canadian then completed a first period hat-trick moments later by breaking into the offensive zone down the right side, tricking his way in beyond Adam Mahoney and rifling high beyond Stefan Nubert for 4-1. A quick double from fellow countryman Justin Noble then saw the Dynamos lead 6-1 by the buzzer with the second of the team’s ‘import’s also completing his hat-trick. The first of the pair was a converted rebound, following a long drive from Callum Fowler, whilst the next was a pinpoint finish inside the near post from the bottom of the left faceoff circle.

After a disastrous first frame, the Redskins were then more resolute in the second, but still conceded twice to trail 8-1 with forty minutes played. Andy Smith dumped the puck towards goal from back on the blue line, allowing Ryan Ellis to redirect beyond Stefan Nubert in front for his fourth of the night, before Callum Best dispatched Justin Noble’s centring pass beyond the reach of the netminder for the seven goal cushion.

In the final period the Dynamos then continued to race away and captain Andy Smith made it 9-1 with a wrist effort around the outstretched leg of Stefan Nubert from right in front before Streatham finally mustered a reply. A venomous slapshot from way back behind the blue line caught replacement goalie Lee Freeman by surprise and saw Chris Rasmussen take the visitors’ tally to two only for them to quickly ship four more soon after.

Callum Fowler put the home side into double figures with a drive from the right side before another pair from Ryan Ellis saw him complete a second hat-trick. His fifth came when the Canadian turned on the spot in front of net and rifled in low at close range whilst his sixth saw him control a rebound, shift onto his backhand to steer around the grounded Stefan Nubert and then flick home for 12-2. Midway through the last and the hosts were then done when Callum Best swept in on the back stick for number thirteen and all that remained was for the visitors to claim three consolations with a mini flurry late on.

Slovak Jerry Pavlus grabbed their third by beating Lee Freeman at his near post from just right of the net, Stevie Balmer cut the deficit to nine with a slapshot from behind the blue line that found the far top right corner of the goal and Russell Stevens brought the scoring to a close by firing high over the shoulder from right in front for 13-5.

So it was an emphatic victory for the Dynamos who were too strong for a Streatham outfit rooted to the foot of the ENIHL South Division 1. Canadian Ryan Ellis was the star man with his double hat-trick going a long way to securing the points and he took the man of the match honours post game for the hosts with Russell Stevens securing the same for the Redskins.

From here the team now prepare for a much sterner test on Sunday as they host the Chelmsford Chieftains in Gillingham with faceoff at 5.15pm.
